For this, most people think that keeping their car clean and maintained is the best way to enhance its lifespan. Below we’ll let you know some tips to clean and maintain your car’s interior.
Tips for Cleaning and Maintaining a Car’s Interior
A car’s interior plays a vital role in its overall appearance. It should be very comfortable and properly maintained for a good user experience. To keep the interior up to the mark, it’s very important to clean it regularly. Here are some tips for cleaning and maintaining a car’s interior:
1. Remove trash from the car
To clean a car, the first step to follow is to remove the trash inside it. Gather all the trash from the car, whether it’s on the floor mats, inside the dashboards, in the drawers, cup holders, or any other hidden place, and discard it. The primary purpose of doing this is to remove the garbage that’s too big to be swallowed by a vacuum cleaner.
2. Take out floor mats and clean them
The second recommended step to clean your car is to take out the floor mats and dust them to remove the dirt from them. After you’ve cleaned the mats, keep them outside the car and put them back once you’ve vacuumed the entire car from inside.
3. Vacuuming inside the car
Vacuuming the car is the best way to remove the dust and tiny garbage from a car. But before using a vacuum cleaner, it’s recommended to remove the sticky dirt with the help of a brush or anything like that. After that, you can use a vacuum cleaner to suck all the garbage. Move it around all the places inside your car to remove the dust properly.
4. Clean windows & mirrors
It’s very important to clean and maintain car’s interior especially windows and mirrors from inside. Use a soft piece of cloth for this purpose, apply cleaning solution spray and then rub the cloth gently on them. We suggest you start from the top and work down, so you can avoid drops to make blots on the mirrors. Make sure that the solution you use is ammonia-free, otherwise, the plastic of windows could get damaged.
5. Clean the dashboard and the center console
After getting the vacuum cleaning done, it’s recommended to clean the dashboard and the center console with a soft cloth or cotton swabs for a better result. Apply any harmless solution on the cloth and softly rub it on them. This will remove fingerprints or any other remaining spots from them.
6. Wipe off the steering wheel
The steering wheel of a car is among the most used parts. So, it’s mandatory to clean and disinfect it adequately. You can clean it with anti-bacterial spray and a cloth to get rid of germs and bacteria. Rub the cloth hard to remove dirt from it. After this, apply a dry cloth on the steering to prevent dust from sticking to its wet surface.
7. Clean the seats
Car seats are made up of different types of material such as leather, cloth, and vinyl. Therefore, the method of cleaning them differs from each other. Cleaning vinyl seats is the easiest among them all as it’s a very smooth material that doesn’t absorb any liquid easily. Leather seats are also very smooth, but sometimes they easily absorb liquid. While cloth seats are the hardest to clean because of their absorbing ability.
So if your car has vinyl or leather seats, it’ll be easier for you to clean them only by applying a slightly wet cloth and a dry one after that. But if the seats are of cloth, get them washed or changed if they’ve absorbed something odorous. But if not, the same process will be followed for cloth seats as well.
8. Clean and maintain Air vents
Dust sticks to the vents due to the air that passes through them. The best way to clean these air vents is to use a soft cloth first and then a cotton bud to remove the dust from tiny spaces.
9. Clean the door panels
Mostly, the door panels comprise the same material as seats, dashboard, etc. So it’s good to use the same technique of cleaning which was used before to clean those objects. You can use a brush to remove the dirt, then clean the dust using a vacuum cleaner, and at the last apply a soft cloth on them.
10. Remove odor
With the passage of time, a slight odor is produced in the car because of the usage. To remove that odor, use baking soda packed in plastic containers. This will control the odor to an extent. After that, you can spray the air freshener in your car for a pleasant experience.
These were some tips to clean and maintain your car’s interior. If you can’t happen to do this all by yourself, you can get your car maintenance done from any of the car dealers. If you have any of Toyota’s cars, you can visit Toyota’s main dealer in your town.
