We would like to share the list of TOP 10 best-selling cars in the UK in 2019. According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), the top 10 best-selling cars are:
- Ford Fiesta – 77,833 registrations
Ford Fiesta is on-trend these days. In our opinion, it is a good looking city car with its character which the younger generation love it.
Company sold 4,168 Ford Fiesta models in December 2019 and year-to-date 77,833 Ford Fiesta models were registered in UK.
Ford sold 254,082 cars in 2018 and 236,137 cars in 2019. Ford sales comparing 2018 with 2019 dropped by 7.06%, however, they still sell more cars than other companies with 10.22% market share in 2019.
- Volkswagen Golf – 58,994 registrations
We are very proud to see Volkswagen Golf – the legend, in the top of the list.
Volkswagen sold 4,585 Golf models in December 2019 and year-to-date 58,994 VW Golf models were sold.
Company sold 203,133 cars in 2018 and 200,771 cars in 2019. Sales dropped only by 1.16%. Volkswagen market share was 8.69% in 2019.
- Ford Focus – 56,619 registrations
Oh yes, I had one 2011 model and you know what? They deserved to be on this list. It was a pleasure to drive and is perfect for the city even travelling long distances. It is comfy and practical car. It was a hatchback and IKEA furniture had a pleasure to be a passenger a few times.
Ford Focus was registered 3,261 times in December 2019 and year-to-date 56,619 models were sold which is almost a quarter of all Ford models registered in 2019.
- Vauxhall Corsa – 54,239 registrations
Vauxhall Corsa – supermini car which is always shining in the top of the list of the best-selling cars in the UK. It competes with Ford Fiesta and we think that Corsa is doing a great job.
Vauxhall registered 54,239 new Corsa models this year.
Vauxhall registered 177,298 cars in 2018 and 159,830 cars in 2019, which is a decrease in sales by 9.85%. Vauxhall market share was 6.92% in 2019.
- Mercedes-Benz A-Class – 53,724 registrations
In our opinion, it is a luxury city car. Do you want to feel like you are a VIP, that’s the one you need to get!
Mercedes-Benz sold 3,050 A-Class models in December 2019. Year-to-date 53,724 cars were registered.
Mercedes-Benz cars will always be in the tops; just this is how it is. Company sold 172,238 cars in 2018 and 171,823 in 2019. Mercedes-Benz sales dropped by 0.24%, however, the amount of sales is huge. Mercedes-Benz market share was 7.43% in 2019.
- Nissan Qashqai – 52,532 registrations
Nissan Qashqai is always at the top of the list during the last five years. Sales are dropping a little bit, however, this model is still very popular.
Nissan sold 4,084 Qashqai models in October and 46,569 models year-to-date.
Nissan is making really good cars and people are choosing them with a reason. In our opinion, it is one of the best SUV’s, very practical car, fun to drive and full of new advanced technologies.
Nissan registered 91,633 cars in 2018 and 81,224 in 2019. So, there we have a 11.5% decrease in sales.
- Ford Kuga – 41,671 registrations
Ford Kuga jumped up by one position since October 2019. It is the third Ford in the top 10 list. What a success for the Ford company!
Ford registered 3,640 Kuga models in December 2019. They sold 41,671 Kuga models year-to-date.
- Mini – 41,188 registrations
Mini dropped down by one position during the last couple of months. We cannot imagine any city in the UK without MINI cars. This model is like a symbol of UK: flag on the roof or the rear lights. Mini – exceptional car with a unique design and beautiful history.
During the December 2019 were sold 3,985 Mini models, and jumped straight to the 3rd place in a Best-selling TOP 10, however, MINI sold 41,188 models year-to-date.
Mini registered 67,021 cars in 2018 and 64,884 in 2019. Sales are very consistent and it only dropped by 3.19% year-to-date. Mini market share was 2.81% in 2019
- Volkswagen Polo – 37,453 registrations
It is the second VW in the top 10 list.
Polo registered 2,715 in December 2019 and year-to-date registered 37,453 models.
We predict that VW sales will be very consistent in the future because the last two years they registered almost the same amount of cars. Only 1.16% decrease in 2019 compared with 2018.
- Kia Sportage – 34,502 registrations
Kia company is “on fire” like we say but in a good way. Kia models becoming more popular each year. New KIA STINGER surprised me a lot, it is a real deal, however Stinger sales, not the best, maybe because of the price and practicality. Kia Sportage is the one which deserved to be in the top 10.
Kia Sportage registered 34,502 cars year-to-date.
Kia registered 95,764 models in 2018 and 97,323 models in 2019 with 1.63% increase. Kia market share was 4.21% in 2019.
