This time I want to introduce 42 years old VW Golf Mk1 1.1N (1977) Golf with full of energy. Thanks to his owner Dale for looking after this legend!
Dale has owned his car for 13 years. He bought the car from an elderly lady in a small village who used the car very occasionally to pop to the shop and back; it only had 42000 miles on the clock.
It now has nearly 57000 miles, mainly from travelling to shows throughout the UK. In the first 6 years of ownership, he completed a full bare metal restoration and the car was rebuilt using as many original parts as possible.
The car remains as standard as there are so few Mk1 Golfs that haven’t been modified. In 2015, the car was replicated into a limited edition Corgi model with a production run of just 1000.
Dale owns both 1/1000 and 1000/1000. Over the last few years, the car has won over 30 trophies, including the top 5 trophy in the Standard Class at the Mk1 Owners Club annual gathering.
VW Golf Mk1 has also featured in the Practical Classics Magazine photoshoot for the top 100 Classic Cars at Millbrook Providing Ground. In 2016, the Golf also appeared at the NEC Classic Car Show on the Maguiars Club Showcase, featuring 12 specially selected cars from across the UK.
